My BFF always has a saying “Move through fear”. If something scares her, she doesn’t run away from it – she moves TOWARD it. The first time I realized she did that – it kind of freaked me out! Why would you move towards something that scares you. We were in Banff, heli-hiking one year and we got to a edge of a cliff. We had guides with us but they did not tell us that we were going to have to SWING to the other side. Seriously?! I thought. There was no going back. I was terrified. I looked to my friend and I could see the concern on her face but she moved towards it. I do believe her husband wasn’t exactly that excited either. But we did it. I got the greatest picture of her too flying across to the other side.
Later on – I decided to address my fear of drowning. Growing up in Washington the water was always cold to me. Occasionally swam in a lake in high school but the only way my parents could get me in water was a pool that was heated or smack in the middle of summer. I still remember the pool. I hated the feeling of being in the deep – or feeling like I wouldn’t be able to breathe. I found out later I had even drowned in a past life!
But I decided to move towards the fear. I decided to get Certified as Diver. Crazy as it sounds.
To qualify for the class I had to swim 8 lengths of a pool without stopping. Now mind you, I am not a strong swimmer either. But after work I would drive over to the Y and practice. When it came time to qualify , I passed. I may have done it swimming on my back but I did it. Next came the in the ocean stuff. One of my friends told me to get certified in warm water, so I headed to Belize where the water was like bath water. The first test was to go 30 feet below – and to be on my knees. The first time I did it, I freaked out and swam to the top of the ocean. IN tears I went back to the boat. But I was determined to move through. I did it. I passed. I would say diving is easier than the certification.
Why am I sharing this? Its so that fear doesn’t limit us. So that we can move through. We can have what we desire.
Believe everything is possible. That possibility begins within you.
You Choose.
You Allow.
You Believe it to be True.
You Align.
You Become what you Intend.
You can do this. If I can – you can.
PS. I have gone diving all over the world. Tahiti was my favorite. 90 feet – yep, me. I went down that deep and saw the most amazing creatures.

Move through fear – love that and such a powerful story! One of my favourite books is ‘feel the fear and do it anyway’, it has helped me push through a lot of things in my life.

Thanks Joanne. I’m glad that you could relate too. Sometimes its good to push through and no that we can do things!
