A Mid-December Reset
As the calendar flips to mid-December, it’s tempting to let thoughts of scarcity sneak in. Time seems to be slipping away, holiday expenses pile up, and year-end to-do lists feel never-ending. But let’s pause for a moment and remember this: scarcity is a story. It’s not the truth.
Abundance, on the other hand, is always available. It’s in the breath you just took. It’s in the warm cup of tea on your desk. It’s in the people who smile at you in passing. Mid-December is the perfect time to recalibrate, to step away from the scarcity narrative and shift into a mindset of plenty.
Think about this: What are you overflowing with right now?
Maybe it’s kindness from a friend, creativity sparking new ideas, or even the quiet lessons this year has gifted you. Abundance doesn’t always arrive with grand gestures. More often, it whispers through the small, sacred moments of our lives.
A Simple Practice to Invite Abundance
This week, I invite you to try a gentle abundance practice:
1. Morning Gratitude: Each morning, write down three things you have plenty of. They could be physical—like warm blankets—or intangible, like love, ideas, or hope. For me, one of the things I’m grateful for each morning is a happy and healthy Joely and Mama.
2. Pause and Reflect: Whenever scarcity creeps in, revisit your list. Take a deep breath and remind yourself that there’s always enough.
3. Celebrate the Now: As you go about your day, make it a point to notice the abundance around you—a full moon lighting the sky, a heartfelt laugh, or even the simple joy of a task completed.
Scarcity thrives in fear and urgency, while abundance flows from trust and appreciation. As the year winds down, let’s choose to step out of the scarcity mindset and into a place of calm, gratitude, and possibility.
So here’s to abundance. To trusting that we have what we need—and that even more is on its way.
