I just consumed a huge plate of delicious home made food that was given to me by my neighbors. I am blessed by loving both sides of my neighbors. This is a big deal. I won’t elaborate but when I lived in Southern California there was a neighbor who wasn’t so neighborly.
As I was eating the food, I kept saying to myself and to Jesse (cockapoo) how blessed we are. Appreciation and love flowed all over that food as it hit my brain and my stomach.
I realized I wasn’t raised that way. In some asian cultures when you go out to eat and the bill comes there is an all out fight. For example, I remember seeing my Dad fight for the bill and he won most of the time. I heard from one of my friends once that it was often a “scene” created to see who was the most honorable by paying the bill.
But this is not about receiving. Grabbing the bill and paying for the entire meal. My parents probably wouldn’t think it was a good thing for me to take the food. However they would love my neighbors daughter for giving me the food. You see what I mean?
All that practice on receiving over the years has made it easy for me to let in the blessings. It also makes it easier to give to people in a big way.
